Pecan nut farm in Pretoria rural area


31,3ha Pecan nut farm, zoned as agricultural land, 20km east of Pretoria on the R104 consisting roughly of:

13,0 ha planted with 3 790 pecan trees on average 6,5 years after planting.

2,9 ha with 6500m² greenhouses used for cut flower

2,9 ha Eskom servitudes, partially used for pecan nut seedling production

4,0 ha wetland area

2,5 ha to the south of the R104, rocky and undeveloped.

3,0 ha office, workshop and domestic area.

1,0 ha staff housing,

2,0 ha general land, not suitable for pecan trees which includes the road reserves of the R104 and Kiepersol Road.

Pecan nut production:

Nut production has been about 1,3t in 2021 and 3,1 t in 2022.

Production is expected to increase as the trees get older with realistic peak production in about 7 years from now of 1,8t / ha as per SA pecan association’s projections.

Pecan seedling production:

Between 2000 and 5000 grafted pecan seedlings are produced and sold annually to pecan nut producers

About 14000 seedlings, between 6 months and 3 years after planting are currently in production
