Top Businesswoman Joins Chas Everitt in Dainfern

After 22 years of building up her own agency to be one of the best known in East London, real estate veteran Sue Brownlie has relocated back to the Johannesburg area – and joined the Chas Everitt International property group.

“Having made Landvest Real Estate a household name in East London,” she says, “I am extremely brand conscious, and after I bought a house in the Dainfern Golf Estate, I approached Chas Everitt International because I believe I can quickly make it known as one of the top performing, most ethical and successful brands in an area where it has been under-represented.”

And Steven Roberts, manager of Chas Everitt International in Sandton, is delighted at her decision. He says: “Sue has an amazing track record in real estate, including five years as a gold club agent for another national group and 22 years as owner and principal of Landvest, one of the top-performing real estate brands in the Buffalo City metro.

“Her dedication to service excellence is also evident from the amount of repeat business she gets – in fact we know of one house in East London that she sold five times in 20 years.

“Sue also has outstanding networking, management and recruiting skills and we are very proud that she has decided to join the Chas Everitt family. We have no doubt that she will soon make her mark on her new area.”

In fact, he says, because Sue is a qualified principal (NQF level 5 in Real Estate), the group is shortly planning to open a satellite office under her direction in the busy Dainfern Valley shopping centre, which will further increase awareness of the brand in this area.

Born in Zambia, Sue came to South Africa in the late 1970s, and promptly set about becoming a business owner.

Between 1981 and 1987 she bought and sold three businesses in Johannesburg before moving to East London, where she bought and sold two more businesses before acquiring Landvest in 1992.

“However,” she says, “in 1999 I put the Landvest brand in my bottom drawer while I further developed my skills in residential real estate with other brands, as I hd only concentrated on business broking and commercial property sales and letting for my first seven years in real estate.”

Then 10 years ago she decided to dust off Landvest and start building it into one of the top agencies in the city, which she did with such success that in 2011 she was voted one of the top three businesswomen in the Eastern Cape.
“But this year I decided to leave East London for personal reasons and move back to Johannesburg – and Dainfern in particular – which is when I started looking at the Fourways area to see how I could get known and be successful here.

“Then I approached Chas Everitt with a plan to make their brand the best known in the area and we came to an agreement that I would specialise in the Dainfern, Broadacres, Fourways Gardens and Kengies areas to start with. I like to be the ‘big fish’ in any area I work in and that is exactly what I intend to do here.”
