All eyes on Cape Agulhas this month for cycling and running fun

The Chas Everitt International property group is once again the main sponsor of the Cape Agulhas Classic Mountain Bike Race & Trail Run event, set to take place on 28 and 29 December. Our Cape Agulhas team is proudly looking forward to seeing hundreds of competitors and supporters discover the delights of their area over the race weekend.

The team has many years of experience in the local real estate market and deep roots in the community they have helped to build by developing enduring relationships with all the property buyers, sellers, and investors they have worked with.

"For us, it is always about more than just selling a property or helping a buyer relocate here," says Chas Everitt Cape Agulhas principal, Strepies van Wyk. "It's about really listening to our clients and providing exceptional, highly personalised service because we understand that we are dealing with their dreams. We want all our clients to feel like neighbours in our community and that they can always trust us to give them the best real estate advice and assistance."

Chas Everitt International CEO Berry Everitt says the group's sponsorship of the event underscores its commitment to promoting the active, nature-centric lifestyle that defines living in the Western Cape's Overberg region, and especially the Cape Agulhas area.

"This area is a favourite destination for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life and encompasses several idyllic country and coastal towns, including L'Agulhas, the town closest to the southernmost tip of Africa. It's where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet and is arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth.

"It also includes Struisbaai, which has become something of an artists' haven and experienced rapid growth over the past few years as an increasingly sought-after destination for retirees and young families relocating here permanently, while remaining a highly desirable holiday-home location."

Strepies notes that Struisbaai is, however, being very careful to avoid over-development as it values its pristine natural setting and proximity to wilderness havens such as the Agulhas National Park. This park stretches over 21,000 hectares and is an area of such spectacular natural beauty and cultural history that visitors from around the country and the world return year after year, often ending up buying a home nearby.

"In fact, the whole Overberg region offers a wealth of activities for nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts, from whale and bird watching to hiking, cycling, surfing, golfing, and world-class deep-sea fishing. Participants in this year's Cape Agulhas Classic Mountain Bike Race & Trail Run event - the 10th to be held - will once again have the opportunity to experience our area's spectacular scenery and natural beauty first-hand, as well as the hospitality and vibrant community spirit that makes our home an ideal place to buy their next home."

The two-day event features trail runs of 16km, 12km, and 7km on Saturday, 28 December, and MTB races of 63km, 46km, 33km, and 13km on Sunday, 29 December. It caters to all skill levels and ages, and entrants are encouraged to treat it as a holiday fun race and enjoy themselves.

All routes will start and end at the Zoetendal School sports grounds in L'Agulhas, and more details about these, as well as entry fees and race times, can be found at https://capeagulhasmtb.co.za/.
