Oaklands at a glance

Oaklands is a small upmarket area in Johannesburg's Northern Suburbs. It has an ideal central location.  Situated adjacent to the M1 Highway, travel north to Midrand & south to Johannesburg CBD is uncomplicated.  The business hubs of Rosebank, Sandton, Melrose Arch & JHB City are therefore all easily accessible.  The area is also serviced by an excellent Public transport system & the Rosebank Gautrain Station is nearby.

Oaklands' neighbouring suburbs include Houghton, Abbotsford, Norwood, Orchards, Melrose & Rosebank.  This ensures that all the amenities & facilities one would require are catered for.

Within a 10 kilometre radius there is an excellent choice of Schools, both Private and Public.  Pre Primary, Primary & High Schools are numerous as well as a reputable Remedial School.  Religious Schools, Jewish & Muslim Schools are also close by.  Wits University is an easy commute.

Oaklands is close to Shuls, the Mosque & other places of Worship.

First-rate medical & healthcare facilities are nearby with Rosebank & Linksfield Clinics being the closest.

Oaklands residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping. The major shopping Malls of Hyde Park, Rosebank, Melrose Arch & Sandton City are all close by.  The large Pick & Pay Hypermarket is in Norwood. These along with some smaller centres offer a variety of shopping & entertainment options.  Fine dining & casual eating restaurants are plentiful as are Cinemas & Cocktail Bars.

Oaklands is near to both the Wilds Nature Reserve & James & Ethel Grey Park. These are tranquil, picturesque spaces with lush indigenous vegetation, outstanding BirdLife and superb vistas.  Dog Walkers, Joggers & Cyclists are particularly attracted to these areas.                                                                     

Killarney, Houghton & Wanderers Golf Clubs have top rated courses & are close at hand.  Gym & Sports enthusiasts are catered for at Wanderers & Waverly Sports Clubs & Virgin Active at Old Eds in Houghton. 

The Norwood Oaklands Residents Association is an active community group committed to keeping the area clean & safe.  CAP Security forms part of the initiative to strive for a crime-free suburb.  Norwood, Bramley & Rosebank Police Stations are all close to Oaklands.

Oaklands has assorted real estate options thus appealing to families, young professionals & even retirees.                           

Freestanding homes are mostly the epitome of luxury.  Large erfs in excess of 1500sqm have perfectly manicured gardens with a profusion of trees & shrubbery.  The houses tend to be double storey, have grand proportions and exquisite finishes.  Generally asking prices are from R 5 Million upward to      R10 million. Occasionally a property may be advertised at under R 4Million but will require renovating.
